Lance McKay
Singer of the month

October 2007
 Country Disc
Tangled Up
in the style of:
Billy Currington

Lance Atkins McKay based in Escondido, California from where he has traveled to perform in talent competitions and select appearances throughout Southern California, New York to Nevada.  His award winning style and talent caught the attention of a talent development manager while judging at a National Talent competition in Nevada.   From that meeting he invited McKay to be a part of the New Year’s Eve Showcase Tribute in New York City.

McKay debuted with the Showcase Singers Tour Company of performers during the recent New Year’s Eve weekend “Tribute to New York City.”  McKay was selected with artists from California, Texas, Florida, Oklahoma, and other rising Country Music artists from Nashville.  McKay and the other performers were in New York City to perform at the Chinatown Ground Zero Fire Station, World Trade Center Construction Site Family Viewing Area, and the Hotel Edison at Times Square on Broadway.  While in New York his singing was produced as a Music Video with backdrop and photo shoot locations at Statue of Liberty Battery Park, Broadway and 7th Ave. site at Radio City Music Hall; and also while singing at the Chinatown Fire station for several World Trade Center 9-11 First Responder Fire Fighters.

This Dallas Texas based Talent manager says  McKay has the stage presence, charisma, vocal skills and the determination to become a major recording artist. His vocal range goes from traditional country, new country and his ballad style moves him into soft pop contemporary.  He needs to continue to market his name and reputation and eventually I believe he will be in the right place at the right time. The audiences in New York City loved his singing; he was great.”

When You're Gone,
it the style of:
Avril Lavigne
Katrin,  originally from Newton MA, started performing in New England clubs and coffeehouses in 1993. She began singing at the age of three, and started violin at age seven. Her love for songwriting was ignited when she picked up the guitar and formed a band at age eighteen. Her classical and rock n'roll backgrounds combine to give her music depth in both melody and rhythm.

Katrin placed second out of over four hundred entries at the 2003 "Mountain Stage New Song Festival" in West Virginia. She appeared in an article by USA today and also graced the cover of Metronome Magazine in June 2004. Most recently, she was a winner at "Solarfest 2005" singer/songwriter contest in Vermont. Katrin is constantly expanding her audience through touring around the U.S.A. and has traveled as far as the Fringe Arts Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland. She was one of the few selected for Faneuil Hall Marketplace Street Performers Program in 2004 and 2005.

Katrin's song "Heal It" from her debut release "Out of Nothing" was featured on Boston's Best Singer/Songwriter Compilation. Her songs have received airplay on radio stations including WXRV 92.5 and WUMB 91.9. Katrin was nominated "Best Folk Act" in Worcester for two years in a row.

Katrin's diverse background, playing with different bands and as a solo artist has given her great command of the stage. Katrin's performances are riveting, with nothing but her acoustic guitar and a voice that will send shivers up your spine.

Concetta
Singer of the month
Pop Hits Monthly
July 2007 Pop Disc
This Is My Now,
in the style of:
Jordin Sparks

Concetta is a Massachusetts native hailing from the beaches of Marshfield . . . just south of Boston and hometown to AEROSMITH.  Her influences are vast while her tracks reflect that she is a diversely talented powerhouse.   Recently, Concetta opened for Jessica Simpson in Boston at a concert of 6000 people comprising largely of her own fans.  Concetta was spotted by a jingle producer and has since sung on commercials for TOYOTA, MEGABUCKS, OPRAH and others.  She is no stranger to the karaoke world and is “FIRST CALL” as she possesses one of the most versatile voices we’ve ever heard.  One listen to her rendition of Michael Jackson’s “Beat It” on PHM Retro Mega Hits of ’83 will immediately reveal her chameleon-like abilities. She can be heard on PHM tracks dating back to the 90’s covering artists from Aaliyah to Melissa Etheridge and Whitney Houston.

Listen to Concetta’s vocal rendition of the American Idol’s song winner used in the finalé “This Is My Now” on track 10.  While you’re there check out her original song “So Far Away” on track 19.  Her original song was also used in the soundtrack for the film “Marylin’s Man”.  A film which one reviewer says . . . “I don't usually like documentaries . . . Finally, I got to see a documentary with depth and flow, and heart to it. Marilyn's Man blew me away . . . the incredibly beautiful music melts your senses . . .”

Concetta is very excited about the “Singer of the Month” program.  Even with her many successes to date she still considers herself a “struggling artist” and is all too familiar with the difficulties a talented singer faces in trying to  “make it” in the music business.  She recognizes the STM program as a great vehicle for other unknowns by providing an opportunity that has enormous potential in advancing a hopeful singer’s career.

Denise Levasseur  a New England based Singer/Songwriter out of New London, Connecticut was named SONG OF THE YEAR winner on MP3.com, as voted by thousands of listeners worldwide and was getting as much as 15,000 downloads per day.  A dental hygienist by day and mother of 2, you can find this sexy gal on stage with a 12 piece band, a 2 or 3 piece combo in a small intimate club, or at a nearby karaoke venue.  In fact you might just run into Denise anyplace where there’s a stage and a microphone.  To Denise it doesn’t matter what the venue is as long as it involves singing.

The mentoring of former CBS Records producer Paul Leka has made quite an impression on Denise.  Paul is known for his work with everyone from Harry Chapin to Gloria Gaynor, REO Speedwagon and Patti Austin.  Leka's informal lessons in songwriting, interpretation, performing, and other subtleties have left their mark on Denise in a way that has both motivated and inspired her to continue to pursue her dream.

Denise has a big voice with a rich resonant sound that deceptively defies her petite frame.  This is  Denise’s first appearance on a PHM disc and although on this month’s release she covered Martina McBride’s country tune titled “How I Feel”, her style leans more toward a pop influence with hints of jazz and ethnic styles melded together.

Denise was real excited about the “Singer of The Month” program stating that “I wish something like this were available when I was first trying to promote my career.  I think this is a fabulous idea that could prove to be a new way for people trying to break into the music business.”   Well Denise, call us a bit biased but we sought of agree with you on this one.

You can hear Denise sing her rendition of “How I Feel” on track 10 of PHM’s July 2007 Country release, and check out her original song “That’s What Our Love Is All About” on track 19.  While you’re at it, fill in the submission form and send us one of your tracks and who knows . . . maybe you’ll be next month’s “Singer of The Month”.
